July 25-28: GalaxyCon Raleigh - This family-friendly fan convention will feature celebrities, voice actors and lots of vendors featuring everything pop culture and comic book. Tickets are still available. The event will be at the Raleigh Convention Center Thursday through Sunday.

July 26: Watch the Olympic opening ceremonies at Marbles- Marbles Kids Museum will be hosting a screening of NBC's broadcast of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on Friday. It is happening from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the museum's IMAX theater. Adult tickets are $15 and tickets for children under 12 years old are $12.

July 27-28: Monster Jam - Experience big fun at this event on Saturday and Sunday at PNC Arena. There will be tons of monster trucks racing and doing tricks in a dirt arena. Children ages 2 years and above are required to have a ticket. There are three shows to choose from. Tickets start at $15.

July 27: Back to School Block Party -  This school supply donation drive and giveaway event will be happening on Main Street in Carrboro on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. and is open to the public. There will be entertainment, food and community resources. It is free to attend.

July 27: Taste of Soul NC: Variety Edition- Enjoy an afternoon of food truck cuisine in downtown Raleigh's City Plaza during this event from noon to 6 p.m. There will also be local merchants, children's games, free ax throwing and a DJ.
