An outage left thousands of Triangle customers without power overnight.

Duke Energy said a power line came down during last night's storm, which led to the outage.

"Power was initially restored last night, but then we had to take power out again for a little while to remove a broken transmission tower," Duke Energy told WRAL News. "Basically, during the storm last night part of one of our utility towers came down bringing a line down with it. That ultimately resulted in a power outage for about 4,000 customers or so.

"We were able to get power restored last evening, but as part of the repair process we had to remove the broken equipment which resulted in the need for the second outage."
