Granville County man wins $487,750 prize in Cash 5 lottery game

An Oxford man bought a $1 Cash 5 ticket and won $487,750 jackpot on Monday night, the North Carolina Education Lottery announced.

Jack Dixon bought his winning Quick Pick ticket using Online Play. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are one in 962,598.

On Tuesday, Dixon claimed his prize at lottery headquarters. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Dixon took home $348,743.

Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Tuesday’s jackpot is $100,000.
