Two people killed in kitchen fire at Spring Lake home

Two people died in a kitchen fire Wednesday night in Cumberland County.

This deadly fire happened at a home off of Morrison Avenue in Spring Lake.

Firefighters responded to the home at 9:30 p.m., and the fire was brought under control by 10:15 p.m. Thirty-five firefighters were on scene.

Firefighters told WRAL News the fire started in the kitchen, and most of the fire damage was in the kitchen area.

The fire is still under investigation.

WRAL News is working to learn the identities of the two victims.
