Man shot near Dunn goes to church for help; 1 of 3 shooting scenes in Sampson County

A man was shot Thursday near Dunn, the fourth crime scene in Sampson County in less than 24 hours.

Around 10:30 a.m. the Sampson County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting near Christmas Tree Road.

According to the sheriff's office, a man named Justice Elliot was involved in a fight with two others, and one shot him in the buttocks.

Elliot went to Pleasant Grove FWB Church on Casper Road for help. He was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting was the fourth crime scene in Sampson County in a 24-hour span.

Five people were found dead in a home used for drug sales late Wednesday night.

Early Thursday morning, a man was shot and killed by police after allegedly pointing a gun at officers. That same morning, a body was found in a mobile home on Leaf Lane in Sampson County.

Deputies have not said any of the scenes are connected.
