Oct. 8: Walk for Hope at Angus Barn - Walk or run a 5K route to show solidarity for family, friends and community members living with a mental illness. After the walk is over, celebrate with a family-friendly afternoon of food, games, music and prizes. WRAL's Michelle Mackonochie, Brian Shrader and Kacy Hintz will be there for a meet-and-greet.

Oct. 8: Triangle Heart Walk - Meet at PNC Arena. Walking in the Heart Walk boosts your heart health and mental health while helping millions of others at the same time. WRAL's Jeff Hogan will be the emcee.

Oct. 8: OC Fest 2023 - Bring your family to Clayton Town Square for an unforgettable evening of Christian music, activities and community!

Oct. 8: Mind, Body, Sprits! Festival - Mystic Farm & Distillery hosts a day mindfulness, holistic healers, tarot readings, mediums, Reiki, massage, and yoga. Explore artists, crystals, wellness tools, jewelry, sacred candles and much more.

Oct. 9-15: SAS Championship Week - Golfing legends walk the fairways of Prestonwood Country Club each year, battling for one of the largest purses on the PGA Tour Champions.

Oct. 10-22: MJ: The Musical at DPAC - Performances run through Oct. 22 at DPAC.

Oct. 10: Switchfoot - The band plays their "Beautiful Letdown" tour to Carolina Theatre in Durham.

Oct. 11: Carolina Hurricanes season opener - The Canes take on the Ottowa Senators in Raleigh at 7 p.m.

Oct. 12: 18th Annual Garner Rotary Oyster Fest - Steamed oysters (shuck your own tables and pre-packaged cups), fried catfish, BBQ Pork (pulled), bistro clam chowder, coleslaw, salt potatoes, green beans, rolls & banana pudding. Jim Quick and Coastline will be playing.

Oct. 12-22: NC State Fair - Rides, food, live music, animals, expositions and much, much more.

Oct. 13: Travis Scott at PNC Arena - Travis Scott brings his Utopia Tour to Raleigh.

Oct. 14: Oktoberfest at Deep River Brewery in Clayton - 2023 collector edition glass steins will be available for purchase. The first 100 people will be lucky enough to receive a pretzel necklace with their stein purchase.

Oct. 14: Fall Craft Fair - Handmade crafts, local art, live music, food, raffles, a used book sale and a silent auction at Overture at Crabtree.

Oct. 14: Oak and Smoke Festival - The OG of BBQ festivals in Knightdale is back for its 7th year at Oak City Brewing! There will be beer chugging, BBQ slinging and banjo music.

Oct. 14: Hum Sub Diwali - Bring your families and friends for a daylong cultural immersion into the Indian subcontinent at Koka Booth Amphitheatre filled with lots of entertainment, shopping, sumptuous food and breathtaking fireworks.

Oct. 15: Bull City Race Fest - Enjoy a fall morning of running through downtown Durham and the surrounding historic neighborhoods. WRAL's Ali Ingersoll and Sarah Krueger will emcee the event.

Oct. 18: Shania Twain - The Queen Of Me Tour comes to PNC Arena.

Oct. 19: Raleigh Fashion Fest - Raleigh Iron Works' fashion, food, and shopping experience is a collaborative fashion show with Models for Charity featuring live music, food and drinks from local restaurants and bars, fashion from locally-owned boutiques and businesses, and a silent auction. Event proceeds benefit The Women’s Center.

Oct. 20: Zombiepalooza at The Cary Theater - Local filmmakers and hobbyists are invited to get creative and tell their zombie stories in 1 to 5 minutes.

Oct. 21: Raleigh's International Wine Festival - Taste great food, learn about wine pairing, local food vendors and sommeliers! There will be live, non-stop performances while you sip wine and beer. Kid and pet friendly!

Oct. 21: Fall Fest at Boxyard RTP - Join Triangle Pop-Up at Boxyard RTP, and their highly curated selection of accessories, clothing, home goods, custom gifts and more by local artists and makers.

Oct. 21: Morrisville's Trick or Treat the Trail - Children can wear their costumes and walk along the decorated trail, trick-or-treating for candy and other treats between 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Oct. 21-22: Boo at the NC Zoo in Asheboro - Dress up your little ones to enter fun costume contests, enjoy trick or treating, and have a howling good time with festive games. Cost is $10 for non-members.

Oct. 22: JDRF One Walk Triangle - This year’s event to fight juvenile diabtetes includes a Walk, T1D Parade (celebrating all of our T1D warriors), live music, food truck rodeo, kid zone and so much more.

Oct. 22: Fall Festival at City Market Raleigh - Come celebrate fall at City Market with food, vendors, carriage rides and a pumpkin patch from 1 to 5 p.m.

Oct. 24: Blippi: The World Tour at DPAC - Dance, sing, and learn with Blippi and special guest Meekah as they discover what makes different cities unique and special. Will there be monster trucks, excavators, and garbage trucks galore? You bet! So get ready to shake those wiggles out and OJ Twist your way through this brand-new musical party!

Oct. 25: Dave Chapelle Live - The comedian will be at PNC Arena.

Oct. 26: Luke Bryan - The "Country On" tour comes to Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek.

Oct. 26: Park West Village Fall Festival - Enjoy free center-wide trick-or-treating, hay rides, costume contests, entertainment from Imagine Circus, food trucks and an outdoor showing of "Despicable Me" starting at 6:30 p.m.

Oct. 26: Wake Forest Halloween Boo Bash - This year’s festivities will include balloon animals, inflatable slides, and a variety of other ghostly games and activities. Small pumpkins will be available to the first 300 children. Event runs from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Oct. 26-27: Pumpkin Flotilla at Bond Park - Bring your carved pumpkins to Bond Park Oct. 26 (day before the event) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Enjoy a discounted boat ride and a boathouse snack on the deck while you see your pumpkin float Oct. 27 on the lake.

Oct. 26-29: Clayton Harvest Festival - The 4-day festival incorporates a midway full of carnival rides, car and motorcycle shows, Latin American Festival, Squealin’ on the Square, and other community-focused events, vendors, food, music, and fun.

Oct. 26-29: Halloween at the BOO-tanical Garden - Celebrate Halloween at the Cape Fear Bontanical Garden with this special event. The outdoor, walk-through, interactive experience features a monster mash dance party, food, digging for bones and more. Reserve your spot online.

Oct. 27: Pumpkin Flotilla - Each October, pumpkins set sail across the Bond Park Lake in Cary at twilight accompanied by local music, snacks, and Halloween activities! Show off your carving skills and drop off your pumpkin the day before the event.

Oct. 27: Marbles Kooky Spooky Halloween Party - Come in costume for a ghoulish good time! Experience the magic of Marbles after dark at this family-friendly Halloween spooktacular.

Oct. 27: Carrboro's Halloween Carnival - Carnival games for all ages and a wickedly good prize bag. Popcorn, sodas, hot chocolate, apple cider and coffee will be sold at the concession booth. Event runs 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Oct. 27: Fuquay-Varina Trick or Treat - Visit downtown merchants that display a Trick or Treat poster in their windows from 2 to 5 p.m.

Oct. 27: Apex Witches' Night Out - Wear your witches' hats for special discounts and treats at downtown shops. Event begins at 5 p.m.

Oct. 27: Downtown Fayetteville Zombie Walk - The undead of Fayetteville are returning to celebrate the Zombie Walk from 6 to 10 p.m. This is a free undead family-friendly event. Come to downtown Fayetteville in all your best zombie costumes!

Oct. 27-28: Haunted Trolley, Mordecai Historic Park - Hop on board the Haunted Trolley, if you dare, for a special late night tour of downtown Raleigh's most haunted places. Tours offered at 6:45 p.m., 7:45 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Cost is $15.

Oct. 27-29: Miss Nelson is Missing - Applause! Cary Youth Theatre is proud to present Miss Nelson Is Missing! Miss Nelson can't control her crazy classroom because she's just too nice. But when she disappears, her students are in for a rude awakening.

Oct. 28: Sensory-friendly film: Casper - Head to the Carolina Theatre in Durham for a free screening of Casper. This series features offers a welcoming environment for autistic individuals and others in need of sensory accommodations. Tickets are free and can be reserved in advance online.

Oct. 28: Movies at Dix - Come in costume to get in on all the fun before the show with trick-or-treating, firepit s'mores and a costume parade. Food trucks and beverage vendors will be on-site so you can grab a bite. Casper (Rated PG) will show at 7 p.m. The movie Us (Rated R) will show at 9 p.m.

Oct. 28: Morrisville Diwali Festival - The celebration is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cedar Fork District Park. The celebration includes hands on activities, music, food and fireworks.

Oct. 28: Day of the Dead 5K - The race raises funds for the Brentwood Boy & Girls Club which provides after school activities for the Latin American community in Raleigh. Includes prizes, a costume contest, face painting and children's arts and crafts.

Oct. 28: NC Symphony: Halloween Spooktacular - Enjoy frightful fun from the movies, including music from E.T., Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, and more—plus a costume contest!

Oct. 28: Walk to End Alzheimer's Fayetteville - Meet at Segra Stadium. WRAL Fayetteville reporter Gilbert Baez will emcee this event.

Oct. 28: NC Wine Festival - This festival atKoka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary will have artisans, music, food trucks and North Carolina wineries.

Oct. 28: Hollyfest - This annual, family-friendly event celebrates Holly Springs has local artists, businesses, food vendors, children’s activities and local entertainment.

Oct. 28: Clouds Brewing Oktoberfest - Celebrate with traditional German music, beer, and more!

Oct. 28: Ghostly Legends at the Old Hotel - Professional storytellers will scare your socks off this Halloween with spooky stories and eerie anecdotes at Page-Walker in Cary.

Oct. 28: Cary's Great Pumpkin Carve - Stop by the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin and carve it at one of the stations. Stay for outdoor screenings of Halloween favorites such as "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown."

Oct. 28-29: Scare-olina Skies, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center - A Halloween-themed version of Morehead's classic star show. Come learn about stars, constellations and celestial events through legends from ancient cultures, featuring monsters, mayhem and madness!

Oct. 28: Fall Fest Block Party - This family-friendly event will celebrate fall with food trucks, a Halloween costume contest, vendors, games and more! Plus, Gouge Wrestling will perform and Crank Arm Brewing will be pouring beers. No tickets required.

Oct. 29-31, Halloween weekend

Sept. 30-Oct. 29: Pumpkin Patch Express - A Halloween train ride at the Museum of Life and Science along with special games, crafts and more. Every Saturday and Sunday in October (starting Sept. 30). Kids 2 and under free. Museum admission not included.

Oct. 28: Halloween party on the roof at Unscripted Durham - Unscripted in Durham is hosting rooftop spooky movies each weekend this month, capping it with a costume party 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 28

Oct. 31: Garner's Trick-or-Treat the Trails - Local businesses will be passing out treats at White Deer Park, a creepy crawlies exhibit will be featured in the Nature Center and food trucks will be available for purchase. The event runs from 3 to 6 p.m.

Oct. 31: Downtown Clayton Trick or Treat - Costumed kids 12 and under load up on goodies from participating Clayton merchants between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Then stop by Town Square to snap a festive picture and play some games!

Oct. 31: Hallow-Eno at West Point Park - The annual Halloween event includes fun the whole family, particularly ages 12 and under. It includes campfire stories, songs, hayrides, treats, crafts and games.
