Police searched two homes Friday that are connected to the woman whose body was found at Jordan Lake.

Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Investigators executed search warrants Friday morning at two Wake County locations as part of their ongoing investigation into the death of Hadeel Ghandhanfer Hikmat, 34, of Apex.

The searches on Friday took place at 736 Treviso Lane in Apex and 1916 Wescott Drive in Raleigh.

The home on Treviso Lane is where Hikmat and her husband lived, according to Hikmat's brother, Firas Hikmat.

He said that that the home on Wescott Drive, owned by Matt Drabick and Nedda Ibrahim, was where her in-laws lived.

"Hadeel has a big family in Iraq, so many people love her, so anything like this for justice we are welcoming," Firas Hikmat said of the search for what happened to his sister.

Hikmat's husband and her North Carolina relatives declined an opportunity to talk about her. A spokesman said that her death and the investigation are overwhelming and that a statement would be provided at a later date.

The investigation began with the discovery Aug. 29 of a woman's body in Jordan Lake near the Farrington Point Boat Ramp, located at 605 Farrington Point Road.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing.

The sheriff's office said they do not believe her death was accidental or self-inflicted. Deputies suspect foul play and are looking for a suspect.

Hikmat's brother said he came from Istanbul, Turkey, to identify and claim his sister's body. He says he last heard from her on Aug. 28. By Aug. 30, he was worried, so he called Apex police.

"My sister was missing," Firas Hikmat said. "[I asked police to] please help us."

Apex police said a missing persons report was never filed, but police said Hikmat's brother called the department on Aug. 30 to file one.

Firas Hikmat said his sister moved to the U.S. from Iraq last year.
