A family's home near Youngsville in Franklin County was significantly damaged from a fire on Thursday.
The homeowner told WRAL News the home appears to be "a total loss."

No one was home when the fire started, but the family dog did not survive.
Several fire trucks were parked along Fleming Road as crews responded. The call came in around 2:40 p.m.
The cause of the fire is not known. Six fire departments from throughout the area helped in putting out the blaze.
