Person killed in head-on crash with utility truck in Harnett County

A driver was killed Monday in a car crash involving a utility truck in Harnett County.

The crash was reported around 8 a.m. on Beaver Dam Road near Motts Lane.

According to the State Highway Patrol, a car ran off the road, overcorrected and hit a utility truck coming from the other direction head-on.

Investigators said driver of the utility truck tried to avoid the car by trying to move off the road but couldn't prevent the crash.

Sky 5 flew over the scene at 9:30 a.m., where crews were pulling a person out of the sedan, which was heavily damaged.

The utility truck was on the side of the road with front-end damage.

No charges are anticipated.
