NC parents charged with murder of 4-year-old son

Two parents have been charged with the murder of their 4-year-old child in Mount Airy on Friday, deputies said.

Skyler Wilson, 4, had been transported to Brenner's Children's Hospital by Surry County EMS after suffering a medical emergency on Jan. 5.

Child Protective Services contacted the Surry County Sheriff's Office on Jan. 6 to alert them of possible child abuse.

Wilson later died from those injuries on Jan. 9.

Husband and wife, Joseph "Joe" Paul Wilson, 41, and Jodi Ann Wilson, 38, from Mount Airy, were arrested on Jan. 13 for Wilson's murder.

His death is being investigated as a homicide.
