Gov. Cooper will join Bidens in DC for turkey pardoning, in NC for 'Friendsgiving' with military families

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on Monday will travel to the Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point to celebrate Thanksgiving with service members and military families.

The "Friendsgiving" dinner is part of the White House's Joining Forces Initiative. Gov. Roy Cooper and his wife, Kristin Cooper, will join the Bidens for the event.

At 11:15 a.m., hours before traveling to North Carolina, Biden will pardon two turkeys from North Carolina. He will be joined at the White House by Gov. Cooper and Kristin Cooper.

The turkeys, named "Chocolate" and "Chip," arrived in Washington, D.C., on Sunday and were put up at a hotel ahead of the big day.

Chocolate and Chip are from Monroe, just outside Charlotte.

After their pardon, they will move back to N.C., where they will live out the rest of their days at N.C. State's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

The Bidens are scheduled to arrive in N.C. by 5:30 p.m.
