Your guide to September in the Triangle

We have your week-by-week guide to the festivals, concerts and fun happening in the Triangle area.

Sept. 5-11

Sept 7: Stranger Things Trivia Night - Put all that Stranger Things knowledge to good use on Sept. 7 at The Glass Jug in downtown Durham.

Sept. 7: Five Finger Death Punch, Megadeth and The Hu - See these bands on Sept. 7 at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek.

Sept. 8: Alley Twenty Six's 10th Anniversary Dinner - Alley Twenty Six will celebrate its 10-year anniversary with a special five-course dinner on Thursday, Sept. 8. It costs $110 per person, excluding tax and tip. Seatings are available from 4-9:45 p.m.

Sept. 8-10: Hopscotch Music Festival - Downtown Raleigh is hosting this annual music festival Thursday through Saturday. Headliners this year include Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett, popular artist Perfume Genius and Sonic Youth co-founder Kim Gordon. Tickets are on sale. There are free day parties happening throughout downtown too.

Sept. 9-10: Ms. Pat - See this comedian on stage at Raleigh Improv.

Sept. 9: Durham Bulls Star Wars Night - The Bulls will celebrate the return of Star Wars Night as they face off against the evil empire (aka the New York Yankees' Triple-A affiliate, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders). Stick around after the game for Friday Night Fireworks!

Sept. 9: Friday Family Flicks: Encanto- Head to Garner Recreation Center for a free outdoor screening of this movie on Friday night. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Sept: 10: The 16th Annual Hot Sauce Contest- This annual event is being held Saturday, Sept. 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Oxford. There will be lots of barbecues and hot sauces to try and purchase, plus a pepper eating contest, a classic car show and live music.

Sept. 10: Sneakerville Fashion, Art, and Sports Expo - Sneakerville is your opportunity to browse, buy, sell and trade some of the hottest new/used, retro, unique sneakers. It is Sept. 10 at Durham Convention Center.

Sept. 10: 33rd Annual Four Oaks Acorn Festival - This festival is being held Saturday, Sept. 10, in downtown Four Oaks. There will be live music, a classic car and antique tractor show, food trucks, a kids zone and handcrafted market. There will also be rides.

Sept. 10: NC Vintage Bazaar - The North Carolina Vintage Bazaar is happening Saturday, Sept. 10, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will include thousands of vintage t-shirts, jackets, sweaters, pants, blouses, dresses, bags and everything in between.

Sept. 10: Hops For Hope - Sample more than 30 beers during this event benefiting Children's Flight of Hope on Sept. 10. There will also be live music, food trucks and children's activities.

Sept. 10: NC Sugar Rush - Durham Central Park is the site of this dessert event on Saturday, Sept. 10. From 3 to 8 p.m., indulge in smoothies, cheesecake, cupcakes and more tasty treats.

Sept. 10: Brier Creek Fall Food Truck Festival - The Brier Creek Food Truck Festival is back on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be live music, food trucks and fun!

Sept. 10: Oaklyntoberfest - This Fuquay-Varina brewery is celebrating Oktoberfest with free food, live music, games and more fun on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Sept. 10: Mordecai Historic Park 50th Anniversary Festival - Celebrate 50 years of Mordecai Historic Park as a public park during this event on Saturday, Sept. 10, from noon to 4 p.m. Hear from community partners about their work, explore the park's history since 1972, and see inside some of the historic buildings to learn about future plans for the park.

Sept 10: Cocktails & Cuisine Class: Tequila - Get inspired to up your cocktail game at home as you gather around the bar at The Willard Rooftop for this class on Sept. 10 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The skilled bartenders will teach you to make three cocktails that you can easily replicate at home and share tips on how to pair food with your creations.

Sept. 11: Triangle Veg Fest - Learn all about plant-based diets, sample food and enjoy live music during this event at Durham Central Park on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sept. 11: The MAKRS Society Fall Festival- Join The MAKRS Society its first Fall Festival at CCU Midtown Park in North Hills on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m to 6 p.m. There will be live music, food trucks, local vendors and family activities.

Sept 11: Geek and Grub Market (Anime Edition)- This monthly market will be celebrating all things anime on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Fred Fletcher Park. This event will feature live music, fun activities, Giant Board Games, Yummy Food and Geeky Items from 40-plus local Geek Themed Artisans.

Sept. 11: Raleigh Brewing Company Oktoberfest - Raleigh Brewing Company will celebrate Oktoberfest on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 1 to 6 p.m. with ax throwing and more fun.

Sept. 12-18

Sept. 12: Views from The Durham - Head to The Durham Hotel rooftop on Sept. 12 for this stargazing series hosted by Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. Come up to the open-air Roof for telescopic stargazing with Morehead educators, and music from DJ Mic Check. DJ Mic Check will spin out-of-this-world tunes 8 to 10 p.m. Stargazing will take place 9-11 p.m. The Roof opens at 5 p.m.

Sept. 12-18: Negroni Week at The Willard - Every year, restaurants and bars around the world participate in Negroni Week, mixing up these classic cocktails in support of a great cause. This year, The Willard is proud to participate along with a handful of other Raleigh establishments. From Sept. 12-18, The Willard will offer its signature Barrel-Aged Negroni at a special price and our riff on the classic, New-groni.

Sept. 14-Oct. 2: Frozen - See this musical version of the popular Disney film at Durham Performing Arts Center.

Sept 15: Raleigh Night Market - Find locally-made goods and enjoy a night filled with music and entertainment with Triangle area artisans, food, and drinks at this market at Moore Square Park on Sept. 15.

Sept. 16: Cary Night Market - Find locally-made goods and enjoy a Friday night filled with music and entertainment with Triangle area artisans, food and drinks at the old site of the Cary Library.

Sept. 16: Alec Benjamin - Indie singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin will perform live at The Ritz on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.

Sept. 16-18: Southern Ideal Home Show at the N.C. State Fairgrounds - This annual event features home-related products and services.

Sept 16 - 18: Lavell Crawford- See this comedian at Raleigh Improv.

Sept. 17: Sola Hot Mini 5K - The Sola Hot Mini 5k is now in its ninth year. This race has become a community staple, hosted by Sola Coffee in north Raleigh. In 2018, Sola owner Jeanne Luther was diagnosed with ALS. She passed away earlier this year. The race is coordinated by Jeanne’s family as one way to help fight to create a world where ALS is curable.

Sept. 17: Nas and Wu-Tang Clan- Hip hop icons Nas & Wu-Tang Clan play Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek on Sept. 17.

Sept. 17: CenterFest - CenterFest returns to downtown Durham on Sept. 17 and 18. CenterFest is the longest-running juried outdoor arts festival in North Carolina. CenterFest boasts juried visual artists from near and far, great entertainment, lots of food and fun, and educational activities for kids. Festival hours are Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 11am-5pm.

Sept. 17: 8th Anniversary Oktoberfest - The Glass Jug Beer Lab in RTP will celebrate Oktoberfest on Sept 17 with live music, limited edition beer releases and a German food truck.

Sept. 17: Asia Fest 2022- Asia Fest 2022 offers the only dragon boat race in the Triangle and a celebration of Asian cultures with live stage performances, games for the kids, global street food vendors, cultural and health information booths, and much more. It all happens on Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Booth Amphitheatre.

Sept. 17: BugFest - BugFest is back from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 17 in downtown Raleigh. Participate in more than 100 exhibits, crafts, games and activities as you interact with entomologists and other scientists while learning about the fascinating world of arthropods at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. This year, BugFest spotlights the myriapods, the group that includes millipedes and centipedes.

Sept. 17: Carolina Circus Festival- This free circus festival is happening from noon to 9 p.m. on Sept. 17 in downtown Cary. There will be: Interactive circus related workshops that the public can participate in, all day aerial acrobatics shows, an arts market, food trucks, and a professional fire show.

Sept. 17: CoComelon Live JJ's Journey - Families will join all their favorite characters for a toe-tapping, fun-filled journey through the world of CoComelon. Featuring over 20 songs, including some new music, little ones will be treated to a unique interactive, musical adventure with magical special effects in an unforgettable live stage show experience. The show is Saturday, Sept. 17, at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.

Sept. 17: Lager-Con hosted by Mythic Brewing - Mythic Brewing will be hosting its very first Lager-Con Beerfest on Sept. 17 at Rocky Mount Mills. Enjoy music, food trucks and lots of craft beer from 1 to 5 p.m.

Sept. 17: Creedmoor Music Festival 2022 - The Creedmoor Music Festival returns on Saturday, Sep. 17, with a larger festival. It will feature seven performers on two stages and more than 100 food and craft vendors.

Sept. 17: Oktoberfest and Bottle Theory's 1st Anniversary - Come celebrate Bottle Theory's first anniversary and Oktoberfest on Sept. 17 from noon to 10 p.m. There will be beer, food trucks and live music at this Apex brewery.

Sept. 17: Beats n Bars Festival - Enjoy a free day of music, fashion, trivia, dodgeball and more at American Tobacco Campus.

Sept. 18: Sproktoberfest - Crank Arm Brewing is celebrating Oktoberfest on Sept. 18 with food, music and beer with this German-style block party.

Sept. 18: La Fiesta del Pueblo - La Fiesta del Pueblo is the Triangle’s largest and most diverse festival of Latin American culture, featuring live music and dance performances, visual and folk art exhibits, educational booths, and activities for the whole family. This year's festival is Sept. 18 from noon to 6 p.m. on Fayetteville Street.

Sept. 19-25

Sept. 21: Stargazing at The Willard Rooftop - Join Raleigh Astronomy Club for views of the starry skies from the rooftop of The Willard on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 8-10 p.m. This time, we'll have views of Jupiter and Saturn.

Sept. 22: Durham Night Market - An open-air, free family friendly event showcasing Durham's creativity. Featuring local Triangle area artisans, live music, food and drinks. The Durham Night Market is brought to you by the founders of the Raleigh Night Market. The night market showcases Durham's creativity outside at American Tobacco Campus.

Sept 23: Garner Night Market - Showcasing Garner's creativity in an open air, free downtown night market. Find locally-made goods and enjoy a night filled with music and entertainment with Garner area artisans, food, and drinks. This event is Friday, Sept. 23, from 5 to 9 p.m.

Sept. 23-25: 2022 Raleigh Greek Festival Drive-Thru- Enjoy some great food during this drive-thru event at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in north Raleigh from Sept. 23-25. Dinner, pastries and a la carte items available.

Sept. 23: Oktoberfest at Compass Rose Brewery - There will be beer steins, live music, pretzels and bratwurst and craft beer.

Sept. 24: Farm Aid - Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Chris Stapleton and Sheryl Crow will perform at the Farm Aid Festival on Sept. 24 in Raleigh.

Sept 24: Festa Italiana Raleigh - Head to Glenwood South for this Italian street festival on Sept. 24. There will be food, music and a children's area.

Sept 24: Oktoberfest at Lonerider Five Points- This event will feature a Stein Holding Competition, Hammerschlagen Competition, Oktoberfest food and craft beer.

Sept. 24: Travis Manion Foundation 2022 Raleigh/Durham 9/11 Heroes Run - One of the nation's leading veteran service organizations, Travis Manion Foundation, will host the Raleigh/Durham 9/11 Heroes Run 5K race and ruck on Sept. 24 at 8:30 a.m. in Holly Springs.

Sept. 24: The Farmers Fall Festival -This festival celebrates the harvest season. There will be live music, a children's performance area, fun games, interactive exhibits, local food and beer and even a pie-eating contest. It all happens on West Chatham Street in downtown Cary.

Sept. 25: Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo - The last downtown Raleigh food truck rodeo of the year is Sept. 25. There will be a half-mile of trucks over 10 city blocks in downtown.

Sept. 26-30

Sept. 27: Alice In Chains and Breaking Benjamin - Alice In Chains and Breaking Benjamin with guest Bush will play at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek.

Sept. 27-Oct. 1: IBMA World of Bluegrass - This bluegrass event features a business conference, club shows, the IBMA Bluegrass Awards and more at various venues in downtown Raleigh.

Sept. 30-Oct. 1: Bluegrass Live! - With a free street festival and ticketed concerts at Red Hat Amphitheater, this festival is a great family-friendly event to check out. It is part of the World of Bluegrass events.

Sept. 30-Oct. 1: Triangle Oktoberfest - The Apex Sunrise and Cary MacGregor Rotary Clubs have partnered with the Town of Cary to host the eighth Annual Triangle Rotary Oktoberfest at Cary's Booth Amphitheatre on Sept. 30-Oct. 1. This festival includes live music, food and more fun.
