Visit the Blue Lagoon

Welcome to Iceland
Mm
Hi welcome to the blue lagoon
My name is Nicholas
We're actually celebrating our 30 year anniversary this year
The blue lagoon is a geothermal bath located in a
very large lava field
The water is heated by the lava about 2000 m
beneath the earth And when it comes up to the
surface it's an optimum bathing temperature
So you're looking at around 38°C at the moment that's
about 100 and five F in american
So super toasty
Well there's nowhere like it on earth
So the water is essentially pretty magical
Geothermal bathing is something that the Icelanders have been doing
here in Iceland for over 1000 years
We have the main mineral component in the water is
silica
So there are trillions of miniscule silica particles in the
water and these tiny white particles they did threaten sun's
light which is why it takes on this beautiful kind
of blue color
The silica is very special because we've been researching the
organic properties of lagoon over the last 30 years and
what we realized is the silica has a cleansing effect
on the skin
So by bathing in the water you're essentially having a
detox
There's also a micro algae that grows in the lagoon
as well
And we've researched this microalgae and this microalgae stimulates the
collagen in the skin
So it's actually anti aging When you bathe in the
blue lagoon
The idea is that when you leave you'll be 10
years younger
I'm bathing in there all the time
I'm 83 years old
So so there's so much else that kind of goes
goes on here in the blue lagoon
You know you have the option of having an in
water treatment a floating massage
We have flotation therapy we have the lava restaurant which
is a highly recommended restaurant and we also have the
retreat as well which is kind of hidden away where
you kind of undergo this kind of ritual which involves
all the organic components of the blue lagoons
You know you have the silicon mask use the algae
the lava scrub
There's a lot more that we have to offer in
terms of experience
I don't know there's something about Iceland I think intensive
community in Iceland everyone kind of looks after one another
I just enjoy the land the vistas
You know there's something kind of humbling about feeling relatively
insignificant compared to these huge mountains that we have to
offer
Absolutely stunning
And of course the lava field that you see before
you hear it was formed in 12 26
So what happened 800 years ago there was a big
volcanic eruption and it culminated in this giant lava field
that you see before you the Vikings were living here
when this eruption took place
They actually called this land which means evil lava absolutely
incredible landscapes and that's just when you first land in
Iceland there's a whole island to explore as well
So I love the place very beautiful
It's definitely worth the visit
