One man is dead and a house damaged after two shootings in Rocky Mount on Thursday.
The first happened around 8:30 a.m. when, according to police, Javonta Crandall was shot and killed when a car pulled alongside the vehicle he was in and opened fire.

Crandall's friend who was driving pulled into a shopping center on Stone Rose Drive and called police.
Family members told WRAL News Crandall was on his way to pick up his car with a friend.
His uncle, James Hales, said Crandall was about to turn 21. Hales said his nephew was just accepted into Nash Community College and was hoping to become a chef.
Crandall was the third person to die of gun violence this week in Rocky Mount.
Car plows into home near Marigold Park
In the afternoon, a vehicle plowed into a home near Marigold Park after a shooting there.
Residents told WRAL News that they heard multiple shots ring out and they understand the driver was trying to get away from a shooting when they lost control.
Latoy Lawrence, who lives in the home, said no one was home when it was hit and no one was injured.
But she worries that had the family been home, her children could have been playing in the yard and gotten hit or shot.
"They need to stop this gun violence," she said. "Seriously, it’s so much. It’s sad, man. People work hard for the things that they get, to only have this happen. And it makes no sense."
Although the car was towed, police did not release details about the driver, whether that person was injured or any information about who might have fired the shots.
