Rain and severe storms battered parts of the Triangle Sunday evening.
The heavy storms caused major power outages in the Triangle, where Duke Energy estimated over 5,000 customers were left without power.

Businesses and restaurants nearby were also affected.
Many could be seen without lights for several hours on parts of North Main Street in Fuquay-Varina.
Police were on the scene redirecting traffic during the busy Sunday afternoon.
Duke Energy said power should be back up and running for most residents by the end of the night Sunday.
There were no reports of serious weather damage in the aftermath of the storms.
