WRAL's Gilbert Baez shares his COVID-19 story while fighting the virus in the hospital
But I don't want to be the story
But I am the story Is an 18 minute Facebook
post from Gilbert pays just seconds in
He shares his hospitalized with the delta variant
She's giving me the shot right now
And before you ask
Yes he's vaccinated
We followed him through the process when he got the
shot
Now he's taking us through the process of being admitted
with the virus right now
I'm stable because I'm just sitting here
But if I get up and move around I started
having a a coffin um fits and breathing difficulties
And that was happening at the house and the town
along and Gatorade wasn't giving I needed some real medicine
And so uh uh huh
I was told To go to the hospital
Gilbert says he recently had a small gathering at his
house for his birthday with only 10 fully vaccinated people
He says five of the 10 were diagnosed with COVID
four have recovered and he's the only one still fighting
I hadn't eaten in three days
I've lost £15 and I'm living what we've been reporting
for the past 18 months
And it gives me a different perspective and reporting the
story going forward
Always the reporter
Gilbert says he found out everyone on his floor is
on oxygen or a ventilator due to covid
He says he's the only one on the floor who
is vaccinated and currently he does not need any breathing
support
Lastly Gilbert left us with this exchange he had with
his nurse had a nurse who comes in takes my
blood
She said the hardest part for her is the same
people her age died
I said how old are you 36
I have daughters 36
This touches me
