My name is Stella Larson. I am 16 years old and a summer intern here at Quail Ridge Books. My love of reading and the store made me pursue an internship here. Everyone has been super welcoming and has allowed me to learn about all of the behind-the-scenes work done in the store that I had never known about before. It has been super exciting to write staff picks, design endcaps, and work on displays all around the store. Helping customers find books has also been very rewarding. I am an avid reader, and some of my recent favorites include:

Soft Hearts

Other WRAL Top Stories

Soft Hearts by Eric Lodin
This murder mystery novel by local author Eric Lodin is a cozy story perfect for reading in front of a fire. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. With characters that delight and inspire, Lodin tells a witty story about true morals and friendship. I could not put it down!

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
Everyone was raving about this book at the store, so I knew I had to try it myself. This book definitely distracted me from all the summer reading I’m supposed to do. McQuiston hooked me from the start and kept me intertwined in the royal and presidential world.

Where I End & You Begin

Where I End and You Begin by Preston Norton
This book made me laugh more than any book I have ever read. The story is about two teenagers who swap bodies and find themselves living each other's lives. Norton explores the complexity of navigating a friendship with no secrets. This chaotic duo will make you laugh late into the night.

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
This book is by far one of my favorite books. If you are into psychological thrillers, and lots of twists and turns, this is the book for you. Hawkins follows the mind of an addict, and shifts the perception of reality throughout the story. When Rachel sees something suspicious on the train, her world turns upside down.
