A Raleigh man died of an apparent drowning at Kure Beach on Thursday.
William "Bill" Delahoyde, a prominent Raleigh attorney, passed away. The town of Kure Beach confirmed his death on Saturday.

First responders were dispatched to a beach stand near the 200 block of S. Fort Fisher Boulevard over a distressed swimmer on Thursday. Two people were able to pull Delahoyde out of the water.
Efforts from first responders to save Delahoyde were unsuccessful.
The New Hanover County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
Delahoyde had an office on Edenton Street in downtown Raleigh. He was 70 years old.
Delahoyde's professional website said he served as the Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina and helped start Trinity Academy in Raleigh.
