Pilot dies after Duke Energy helicopter crashes on Eden street

The pilot of a Duke Energy helicopter died after it came down near a residential neighborhood in Eden, NC, on Wednesday afternoon. The landing happened near the intersection of South Edgewood Road and Rosewood Lane.

Rodney Cates, director of emergency services in Rockingham County, said the helicopter was flying near power lines and crashed into the wood line.

No one on the ground was hurt and no homes were damaged.

Two people were taken from the scene for treatment at area hospitals.
