Investigators are looking into a deputy-involved shooting from Friday night where a man was killed after holding several others hostage inside a Person County home.
Person County Sheriff Dewey Jones said deputies responded to a home on Clay Long Road in Hurdle Mills after 911 dispatchers received a hang-up call around 10:15 p.m.

Authorities arrived and found a hostage situation brewing where three people, a father, daughter and stepmother, were being held hostage by a man pointing a gun at them.
The deputy warned the man several times to put down the gun before any shots were fired.
Shots were then fired by the man inside the home. The deputy returned fire, shooting the suspect.
EMS arrived and declared the man dead. He was later identified as 58-year-old Jackie Cameron Capps Jr.
The sheriff said the deputy involved is a woman. Her name hasn't been released. She is on administrative leave, pending an investigation.
It's unclear how many shots the deputy fired and how many times Capps was shot. The investigation has yet to determine if shots were fired at the deputy at any point before the deputy shot Capps.
One hostage had minor injuries from the night.
Jones said Capps was served domestic violence papers sometime before Friday.
