Avett Brothers' Joe Kwon finds purpose in fitness

Joe Kwon has been playing the cello for more than 30 years, but it is fitness that is helping him get through the COVID-19 pandemic. Kwon and MDO Holdings launched CARV Fitness, an online fitness platform where Kwon coaches people through classes via Zoom.

fitness is a way of life for the A V

brothers Jo Kwon because it was 2015 that I started

working out when I went on a on a short

tour with what this guy Ramin carom lived

He's a Broadway singer but he was doing some shows

in Japan and Korea the to hit the gym

But the next day I could barely walk the next

day like literally was having to hold onto the railings

as I walked down the stairs kind of thing and

I loved it

I loved that feeling like right away like Oh that's

a nice That's a nice pain

Like I know I did some work

The cello player kept working out and when the pandemic

hit and live performances stopped he found himself spending even

more time in the gym

It was where I was getting a sense of accomplishment

where I was getting that sense of accomplishment on stage

before now all of a sudden I was like This

is where I'm coming to get that feeling of like

I did something today

So when local investment firm Mdbo Holdings approached Kwan about

starting his own fitness platform he jumped at the chance

and carve was born out of my having a lot

of time at home already working at a time and

missing a community of people that inspired me and I

And they can also help out as well carved fitness

features live and on demand classes including cardio and yoga

Zoom

It's like Well I see you on the screen so

you know you're showing up and then I hold you

accountable for like making sure your your reps are good

Your technique is good you know

It's a very like hands on correction constantly and looking

at all the screen

Quan has been performing with the David brother since 2000

and six

He's hopeful he'll be able to get back on stage

at sometime soon but expects full capacity shows to return

by next year

I would love for it to come back soon obviously

because you know it's what I do it's how I
