Two killed in fiery crash on I-40 in Raleigh

Two people died after a car crashed and caught fire on Interstate 40 in Raleigh on Tuesday night.

The single-car accident happened around 10:30 p.m. at the Gorman Street exit.

Rolando Dircio, of Raleigh, was driving 92 mph in a 65-mph zone when he lost control of his car, veered off the road and struck a tree, according to a police report.

The car exploded into flames on impact, killing Dircio and an unidentified male passenger.

Drugs and alcohol were not considered factors in the crash.

All lanes of I-40 near Exit 297 were closed for nearly four hours as police investigated the crash.
