New coronavirus cases were reported at five Wake County Public School System schools on Monday.

One case was reported at Wakefield Middle School, Lincoln Heights Elementary, Bugg Elementary School and Knightdale Elementary School each, while Carnage Middle School reported two cases.

Messages posted to the three schools websites stated school leaders were "working closely with the Wake County Public Health Division and the individual to identify and notify anyone who may have been in close contact with the individual to provide them further instructions."

School leaders said unless contacted by the local health department, families did not need to do anything.

As of Nov. 2, there have been at least 15 positive coronavirus cases at 12 schools in the school system:

    • Carnage Middle School ( 2 cases)
      • Bugg Elementary School (1 case)
        • Knightdale Elementary School (1 case)
          • Lincoln Heights Elementary (1 case)
            • Oakview Elementary (1 case)
              • Kingswood Elementary (1 case)
                • Cedar Fork Elementary (2 cases; same household)
                  • West Millbrook Magnet Middle School (1 case)
                    • Alston Ridge Elementary School (1 case)
                      • Forest Pines Elementary School (1 case)
                        • Fuquay-Varina High School (2 cases on athletic team)
                          • Heritage High School (1 case on athletic team)
                            • Panther Creek High School (1 case on athletic team)

                              Pre-kindergarten through third-grade students returned for some in-person instruction on Oct. 26.
