Wake County deputies arrested a man following a vehicle crash that was first reported Tuesday as a possible shooting.
Deputies responded to Bruce Drive off Purnell Road at around 6:45 p.m. after someone said there was a shooting. Deputies received a second call of a shooting while en route that involved a black SUV, near Stoney Hill and Purnell Roads.

A deputy arrived at the scene and saw the driver of the SUV speed off and crash. The driver fled on foot on Purnell Road. The person, Christopher Thomas Vaughn, 34, from Oxford, was located an hour later in the woods by a Wake Sheriff's K-9 team. A gun and drugs were recovered from the crashed vehicle.
Officials said Vaughn was sent to WakeMed with injuries. He faces several charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon.
Wake County Sheriff Public Information Officer Eric Curry said they could not verify a shooting happened and Vaughn did not have any injuries related to a shooting.
