Johnston County sheriff: 'It's a sad day'
a sign of sadness and modified
We had first responders at your deputies yesterday
McCain nine handler that was overcome from the heat
Had to get your master check him out
But they were willing to go right back
You know everybody that I've talked to his being in
continuous prayer for these family of these kids and their
safety that we would find
And we have found the fact that they were so
close to where everything happened
Were you like surprise where you found the kids I'm
just thankful that they never got into the Noose River
Yeah I was a little surprised of the location of
the little boy this morning
But then again as the water was receding I think
that was to our advantage
So any hail we can find some comfort that knowing
that they're in a better of a place today that
well and the war when they found them with the
water were they in the water Where were they In
shallow water
Okay
And just talk about the effort behind this
Not just you had your first responders out here
You also had community members that said You know what
we can't sit back and watch this talk about how
what effort this was
You know one of the things that we were concerned
about here in Johnson County
It's a loving community
Everybody wants to pitch in
And everybody What can I do I'm willing to do
We had folks want to go buy a kayak
I want to go by boat to get in the
water to help us
Yesterday I pleaded for the community
Don't get in the news river
It's swift
Water is dangerous
The rivers up
We got trained motors if you will on the water
and we didn't need them out there are hampering our
investigation
And I do want to thank our citizens for hating
the warning not to get in
We didn't need additional searches going on
We needed to focus on this search and for others
to stay out of the water like I've requested yesterday
assisted us in being able to put our full attention
on finding these Children
I will have
The little boy was found right here in the creek
just before nine o'clock this morning about 30 yards east
off the location of the little girl yesterday and I
just wanted to let you all know to let the
community know
Thank you for your thoughts prayers your donations the outpouring
of love and support
Uh I want to thank the first responders the deputy
sheriff the other agencies that sent people the civilians that
brought you know canines out and combed the woods right
along the side office
I want to thank the community for heeding the warning
yesterday to stay off of the news river
Give us a chance to do our jobs
We didn't need another search
We needed to focus our attention on this search and
we were successful
We were hoping for a better outcome
But at least this morning that we have retrieved all
the family has been notified and we want to keep
the family in our thoughts and our prayers
We want to keep the fireman that were in the
boats out here
So they're not capsized when you got six first responders
that are in the water along with a mother young
girl and a young boy and you hear on the
radio Mayday Mayday
I've never heard mayday in Johnson County on the water
but you know we're all in this business together
Where Your Firefighter E
M s deputy sheriff law enforcement officer
But here you fire buddies and they're hollering
Mayday We need help
We're all in the water and then we get down
here and we got four boats That's up against the
trees
One in a tree
Just tour all the pieces
But the focus war on the boat we don't care
about the boats in the equipment could be replaced
Our focus immediately
We introduce our Children and at least we've got him
from the river today
And I will tell you you know with all the
negative going on in America about police and first responders
and law enforcement I've been so humbled and thankful for
the outpouring of support from the community
Food prayer so unreal
I know this isn't the outcome we wanted but do
you hope in some way the family I hope so
My chief deputy is meeting with the family as I'm
speaking right now and I just got off the phone
with him before I walked over here and it's it's
really emotional not only for the family but also there
with the guy
Just got to care of the message
Um family have you I know you guys have been
very closely working with them
They seen so wonderful and making in helping you guys
to I know that they've been out there searching to
What's your message to them You know I guess my
message would to the family would be I'm sorry
I wish we could have found him and brought him
back in
Place him in your arms
But we did the best we could
We got you family in our thoughts and prayers
And it's a sad day for the family
It's a sad day for law enforcement is a sad
day for the first responders researchers to voters
But at least we've got those Children and the family
confined
Ah sense of a closure
And those kids are in a better place than we
are today
So we can find some
Maybe we can find some comfort in that
Thank you
You got
okay
Jochen Socrates I reckon uses these here
