Cooling station opening in Wake County

With heat index values reaching triple digits, Wake County officials are opening a cooling station on Monday through Friday.

The station will open at 10 a.m. starting this Friday, and close at 5 p.m. The station will reopen again on Monday.

It will be on the first floor of the Swinburne Building, located at 220 Swinburne St.

Officials said it is for anyone who needs a place to seek relief from the heat.

Face coverings will be required inside the building. Temperature screenings and social distancing is also required to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

Areas will be sanitized and wipe down frequently.
