Another inmate dies of COVID-19 at Butner prison

An inmate at Federal Correctional Institution Butner died from complications related to COVID-19 on Saturday.

On June 1, Jack Edward Talledo, who was serving a 60-month sentence related to child pornography, tested positive for coronavirus. Eighteen days later, he was evaluated by institutional medical staff for issues relating to progressive shortness of breath and fatigue, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Talledo was then transported to a local hospital for treatment and further evaluation.

On July 4, his condition declined and he was placed on a ventilator. He passed away the next day.

Talledo had long-term, preexisting medical conditions, according to the statement. He was 61 years old.
