The research team at the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy in Massachusetts has a shark with an unusual physical characteristic-- a missing top lobe of his tail.
According to the Conservancy's Facebook page, the team is not certain how Chex suffered this injury, but they hypothesize that it could have been due to being struck by a boat or an interaction with another shark.

It is unclear why another shark would bite Chex, as the Conservancy says it is rare to record interactions between these animals.
