An employee at the Research Triangle Post Office in Durham has tested positive for the new coronavirus, U.S. Postal Service officials said.

"We have reached out to the local public health office and will follow the guidance they provide. We believe the risk is low for employees who work at the facility, but we have informed employees and will keep them apprised as new information and guidance becomes available," officials said in a statement.

The news comes as North Carolina crossed 2,200 cases of coronavirus in 92 counties. There ar now 30 deaths in the state, including two who were not from North Carolina. The CDC also issued a recommendation on Friday that everyone should wear a face mask or some other kind of protection when in public.

"The safety and well-being of our employees is our highest priority," officials said in a statement. "To ensure the health of our employees, we are continuing to follow recommended guidance and strategies from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
