Now that the holidays are over, we have entered the season of returns. If you find yourself needing to return or exchange a gift that just isn't a good fit for your needs, check out the following return policies for major retailers.

According to UPS, they are expecting a record 1.9 million returns on Jan. 2, the day they have named "National Returns Day" for 2020. That number is up 26% from the prior year.
Whether you are returning an item via mail or in your local store, it's important to understand how much time you have to make the return or exchange.
Return Policies for Major Retailers
Amazon.com: Items shipped by Amazon between November 1 and December 31, 2019 can be returned until January 31, 2020. See the full return policy on their website.
Bath & Body Works: If you return a gift in stores with a gift receipt, an exchange or merchandise credit will be issued for the purchase price on the gift receipt (excluding shipping & handling charges). See the full return policy on their website.
Bed Bath & Beyond: If you have a a Gift Receipt, the return will be exchanged or refunded in the form of a Merchandise Credit for the amount paid, for up to 180 days from the date of purchase. See the full return policy on their website.
Best Buy: Most items purchased from Best Buy between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, 2019 can be returned through January 14, 2020. This excludes cell phones, cellular tablets, cellular wearables, AppleCare monthly plans, and major appliances. My Best Buy® Elite and Elite Plus members have until January 14, 2020, or 30 days from the date the purchaser received the product (whichever is greater) to return or exchange the product. JCPenney: With a receipt, items are eligible for exchange or refund of the purchase price on the original method of payment. Without a receipt, items are eligible for exchange or refund at the item’s lowest selling price within the last 45 days. You'll receive a merchandise return voucher. Kohl's: Items can be returned within 180 of the purchase for most products. For premium electronics, items purchased from November 1 to December 25 can be returned by January 31 with original packaging and a valid receipt or account look-up. If you have the original receipt, you will get a refund or even exchange. If you have a gift receipt, you will get an even exchange or a Merchandise Credit. If you do not have a receipt, and they cannot locate the original purchase, you will receive a Kohl's Merchandise Credit (the amount is calculated based on a discounted lowest 13-week sale price of the item). Macy's: Most Macy's returns can be made by mail and in stores within 90 days of purchase. For jewelry, watches, small electrics, social dresses, and Backstage merchandise purchased between November 1, 2019-December 31, 2019, you have until January 31, 2020 to return them. For tech accessories and Apple products purchased between December 1, 2019-December 31, 2019. you have until January 8, 2020 to return them. See the full return policy on their website.
Target: Most new, unopened items can be returned within 90 days for a full refund. If you paid with a RedCard, you get an extra 30 days. For Target owned brands or items purchased from a registry, you have up to a year to return the item. See the full return policy on their website.
Walmart: Most products from Walmart must be returned within 90 days of purchase. Some products, including electronics, have a 30-day return window. If an item has a 14-day or 30-Day return window, Walmart has extended the return window to start on Dec. 26. See the full return policy on their website.
