Thursday morning is clear but cold as temperatures hovered near freezing in the Triangle.
Temperatures will start climbing above freezing by 9 a.m., WRAL meteorologist Zach Maloch said, but highs will reach only 46 degrees in the afternoon as winds push in cold air from the northeast.

The air is dry with low dew points, so don’t be alarmed if you get some static shocks.
Rain moves in Friday morning, when temperatures will be close to freezing again. It won't be cold enough to see wintry precipitation in the Triangle, though.
Roads will be wet during the morning commute, and rain will become heavier around lunchtime.
Skies aren't expected to clear until Saturday afternoon.
The Durham Holiday Parade, which starts Saturday at noon, will likely see some rain. The Town of Cary Christmas Parade starts at 2 p.m. and should be drier, Maloch said.
Temperatures will be warmer over the weekend, with highs reaching the upper 50s.
Skies will be mostly sunny and clear Sunday and Monday.
