Some lucky young basketball players in Garner got to hang out with Zion Williamson this week, and the town had a little fun with it.

A post on Garner's Twitter page Thursday evening says, "The town of Garner selects @Zionwilliamson as the first overall pick in our 5-7 year old @GarnerPRCR basketball league. Just a few details to iron out with @PelicansNBA first."

Williamson, the Duke standout, was the NBA's top overall choice in the draft this month. He's headed to New Orleans to play for the Pelicans.

But first, he stopped to watch his nephew, Julius, play in Garner's summer basketball league for kids ages five to seven at Avery Street Recreation Center. Williamson also was there with his little brother, who plans to join the league next year. Garner staffers say Williamson was "very humble" and kind, taking the time for photo opportunities and signatures.

The tweet features pictures of a smiling Williamson, towering over some adorable kids and posing with a Garner parks jersey.

You can find out more about Garner's parks and athletic programs on the town's website. Prediction: The 5 to 7-year-old league is going to be one to watch!
