A proposed light rail line between Durham and Chapel Hill that lawmakers have squeezed several times in recent years finally appears dead.
The GoTriangle board voted Wednesday to pull the plug on the project, which in addition to legislative hurdles, faced cost overruns, lackluster private funding and a lack of cooperation from Duke University and the North Carolina Railroad.
