Guests need keys to get into the newest Oakwood area hotspot.
The Atlantic Lounge is now open at 620 N. Person St. in downtown Raleigh. The 44-seat venue has bar and banquette seating. The small space is accessible through a foyer betweenPelagic Beer and Wine and Crawford and Son.

The Atlantic Lounge is owned by Jason Howard, who also ownsThe Cardinal Barin downtown Raleigh. He also had a hand in other popular Raleigh destinations Brooklyn Heights, Quality Grocery and Raleigh's first LGBT Lounge, 15.
“I wanted to let this downtown neighborhood make The Atlantic Lounge their own," Howard said.
Keys, which are $40, are required for entrance. The first keys were offered to those living in surrounding neighborhoods. Each member gets an invitation to give to a friend to join. Later this year, Howard is planning to open the Rainbow Luncheonette, a short order lunch counter and bar, in the old Rainbow Upholstery Building at 911 N. West St. Look for it to serve breakfast and lunch during the week, and add dinner service on the weekends.
The Cardinal Bar, which boasts a sneaky good hot dog, opened at 713 N. West St. in December 2016.
