Following a reprieve from the wet weather on Saturday, more rain is on the way for the Triangle, but it won't have as much impact on New Year's Eve as meteorologists originally thought.
Following Friday rainfall that broke the record for wettest year recorded at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, Saturday brought sunshine and mild temperatures across the region.

The chance for rain will creep back in Sunday, but WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said the majority of the wet weather will be confined to the southern counties.
"If all goes as planned, we may end up being partly cloudy from Raleigh to the north," Maze said.
Although Sunday will be cooler, with temperatures in the 50s, things will warm up in time for First Night celebrations on Monday. Temperatures will remain in the low 60s even as midnight approaches, Maze said.
"It's going to be a warm First Night with chances for rain," Maze said.
Although forecasts originally called for significant rainfall to ring in 2019, Maze said models now show just a 30 percent chance of rain for the day.
Maze said the best chance for rani will come just after the acorn drops at midnight and during the afternoon on Tuesday, but rain chances for the day stand at just 40 percent.
"It's not going to be a washout for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday as the rain chances seem to be going down," he said.
