Algebra, Spanish and chemistry are important, but learning basic life skills was the purpose behind an “adulting day” at Bullitt Central High School in Kentucky.

Seniors got intensive one-on-ones with people from the community who taught them skills that will help them in the “real world.”
Some of the skills included dorm room cooking, changing a tire and balancing a checkbook.
The teens may not have learned everything they need to know, but they’re closer than they were before.
“I think that the idea occurred to me originally, I saw a Facebook post that parents kept passing around saying they needed a class in high school on taxes and cooking,” teacher Christy Hardin said. “Our kids can get that, but they have to choose it. Today was a day that they can pick and choose pieces that they didn’t feel like they had gotten so far.”
