Colder air plunging down the Front Range of the Rockies will lead to the season’s first significant snowstorm over the eastern Rockies on Sunday. Several inches will accumulate from Denver to western and northern Kansas as well as southern Nebraska. Farther south and east, a cool rain will fall from eastern New Mexico to parts of Missouri.

Warm, humid weather is expected in much of Texas to southern Arkansas. Clouds and some showers and thunderstorms may develop as a cold front presses in from the northwest. Along this same front, rain will extend from northern Arkansas to Tennessee and Kentucky.

A dry, cool day is on tap for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic with at least partial sunshine. It will be warm and dry from Georgia to the lower Mississippi Valley, and all but the eastern coast of Florida will stay dry and sunny.

The northern Plains and northern Rockies will be cold with some sunshine. Sunny, mild weather will cover much of the Northwest, while much of the area from California to Utah will be sunny.

Focus: Fresh Snow for the Rockies

A storm will sweep southward through the Rockies and High Plains into Monday, unleashing heavy snow. Denver is among the areas that could get several inches of snow. Drier, milder conditions are expected to return by midweek.
