Flooding is possible from Kansas to Wisconsin, as well as along the central and western Gulf Coast. Thunderstorms are expected from the southwest to northeast across the Plains and the Midwest. Downpours may lead to flash flooding across several states from Kansas to Wisconsin.

Storms are also expected across the Gulf of Mexico and Louisiana into southeastern Texas. In Florida, a few showers and thunderstorms are likely. A second system approaching from the southern Bahamas may become better organized as it spreads rain and some thunderstorms across the southern half of the state over the weekend.

A few showers and thunderstorms will dot the Mid-Atlantic and the eastern Great Lakes, but much of New England will be warm and humid with some sun. Sunshine will dominate the weather in the West and in the northern Rockies.

Focus: Flood Risk Continues in Midwest

Areas of the Midwest that have been flooded in recent days will be hit with rounds of thunderstorms through Tuesday. Downpours are expected to stretch from Kansas to Wisconsin. The rainfall may hinder cleanup efforts and create new flooding problems.
