I was caught in the rain while walking Wednesday night in Cary. I turned around at the big lake in Lochmere and began to sprint back home towards Kildaire Farm Road.

The running didn’t last long. One look at the western sky and I was frozen in my tracks.

I pulled out my iPhone and snapped a few shots. By then the rain had let up considerably.

I posted one of images on social media. I titled it “End of the Storm” and it evoked a strong emotional response.

Jean Small wrote: “A stunning picture!  Very spiritual!”

Similar comments came later in the evening.

There is something spiritual about the end of a storm. I think of a friend who has courageously battled cancer.  I think of a woman who has finally broken away from an abusive husband at home.  I think of someone who has emerged from the dark clouds of depression.

Pictures have a way of touching our hearts in places that words cannot reach.
