Every Friday, I feature a place to take kids. Sometimes it's a big new museum exhibit or destination. And sometimes it's a not so big spot - like today's featured spot. It's the hopscotch board that appeared in downtown Raleigh this summer.
I love seeing all of the public art popping up around downtown Raleigh. And among those new additions is the hopscotch board by N.C. artist Gina Franco. It sits on the 400 block of South McDowell Street right next to Poole's Downtown Diner.

It's colorful. It's fun. And on a trip through downtown Raleigh, it was a quick diversion for my kids.
The piece features 10 numbers on top of brightly colored backgrounds. Along with the actual numeral, you'll also find that number shown in different languages. English, French, Spanish and German are among them. As we hopped on the board a few times, my kids and I attempted to count up to 10 in as many languages as we could. (We got French, Spanish, German and some Russian.)
It's about a block or so from the Raleigh Convention Center and three blocks from the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts. If you're nearby, it's worth a visit.
