A storm system moving across the Great Lakes will bring a soggy end to the weekend for many on Sunday. This storm will bring showers and thunderstorms from Michigan and western New York through the Mid-Atlantic. There will also be afternoon thunderstorms around parts of the Deep South and the Gulf Coast, from Houston to Tallahassee. New England will remain dry with sunshine, but cool along the coast. It will be humid across the Southeast.

Other than the eastern part of Texas, the state will be dry on Sunday. Central and southern regions will remain hot, while a front brings cooler air into northern and western areas, as well as the central Plains. Some spotty thunderstorms are possible Sunday afternoon for Colorado and New Mexico.

High pressure will keep it dry from the central Plains up to the Montana-Canada border. Another high will keep the Southwest dry and hot. While it will be cooler along the California coastline, many of the California valleys and much of Arizona will easily surpass 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon.

An incoming storm will bring clouds to western Washington and northwestern Oregon, in addition to some afternoon showers. The remainder of the Northwest will be sunny.

FOCUS: Pattern Change for First Week Of June

While the month of May ended unseasonably warm for much of the country, especially the East, temperatures will be leaning a different direction for the first full week of June. Cooler air in the Northeast will bring temperatures down, while heat persists in the Southwest.
