There will be a chill in the air Sunday in the East. Despite a good deal of sun in most places, afternoon temperatures will end up as much at 10 to 15 degrees below normal for the beginning of April. A few isolated areas in the East will have rain. The front will be hung up across the Florida Peninsula, allowing for more clouds as well as a spotty shower or thunderstorm. Chilly winds over the Great Lakes will create a few lake-effect snow showers in northwestern Pennsylvania, as well as in western and central New York.

A storm system will also be emerging from the Rockies, bringing snow from North Dakota and central Minnesota to northern Missouri. Some light accumulation is possible into the overnight hours as this system continues to slowly move eastward. Rain showers will be possible across Kansas and Colorado, as well as in Washington and Oregon. The steadiest rain will be from the Cascades westward to the Pacific Coast. The Southwest will be dry and sunny. Southern Arizona and interior parts of Southern California will reach the lower 90s, more than 10 degrees above normal. Dry, warm weather will extend into western Texas.

As a new storm tracks east out of the Rockies, a swath of snow is expected to spread from the northern Plains to the western Great Lakes Sunday into Sunday night. Some roads may develop slick spots.
