A small plane has crashed in a field on Williford Road in Wilson County near the Nash County line, according to N.C. Highway Patrol.

The pilot, on his way from Fayetteville to Washington, D.C. made a soft landing when a fuel pressure issue forced him to make an emergency landing.

The landing caused only minor damage to the plane, and the pilot was not injured.

There was a slight fuel leak, which was contained by the fire department.

The plane will be removed from the field Monday.
