The much-needed rain that fell across North Carolina on Sunday will continue for most of Monday and could bring a few snowflakes to northern counties.
About a half-inch to an inch of rain fell in Raleigh Sunday evening, and those totals will only grow on Monday, according to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.

Excess water on the roads prompted officials to block off lanes in Raleigh for the morning commute, including the lanes closest to the median on both sides of I-440 between Wake Forest Road and Six Forks Road, according to Raleigh police.
Minor flooding is expected to be an issue throughout the morning commute, and officials are asking drivers to slow down and travel with caution.
According to Gardner, areas east of the Triangle will see the most rain.
Temperatures will be mild Monday morning but will then continue to drop throughout the day. Hit-and-miss showers will continue through Monday evening and residents to the north shouldn't be surprised if a few flakes make their way to the ground.
The forecast remains chilly through mid-week with high temperatures in the 40s and lows that drop into the 20s. A chance for rain reappears Friday.
