After lawmakers reworked voting district maps for the House and the Senate last month, they spent this week overhauling the district maps for trial court judges and prosecutors. Democrats, judges and prosecutors criticized the proposal as a partisan power grab that would disrupt the court system in many counties โ the North Carolina Courts Commission even recommended delaying any action on the revamp until next year โ but sponsor Rep. Justin Burr, R-Stanly, said the bill would go before the full House next week.

If it passes the House, it's unclear when, or if, the Senate would address the redistricting plan.
