Family Settles Over Alleged Mailbox Death

A Durham County family has reached a settlement in their "mailbox" lawsuit.

Eighteen-year old Jasmine Lockamy died last year after her car slammed into a concrete mailbox support on Bahama Road. Her younger brother was also hurt.

The family claimed the mailbox support was a roadside hazard. Friday, they were awarded a minimum of $25,000 dollars. A separate wrongful death lawsuit against the owner of the mailbox has been dismissed.
