NC towns on list to be named 'Top 10 Towns for Craft Lovers'

Artists and potters in Seagrove, North Carolina have entered an online contest to be named one of America's "Top 10 Towns for Craft Lovers."

The small town in Randolph County is on its way to winning, too. Seagrove has currently received the most votes, just over 3,500, beating out Seattle, Portland and New Oreleans. Even Asheville, North Carolina falls short of Seagrove's total.

In 2016, St. Petersburg, Florida won the contest with 21,000 votes.

"The goal is to receive national recognition," said Alexa Modderno, a member of Seagrove's pottery community.

Seagrove is home to some of the oldest, historic pottery locations still in operation, including Owens Pottery (founded in 1895) and Jugtown Pottery (founded in 1917).

Visitors to the contest website can vote for a town once a day, everyday through April 16.
