Remains found at abandoned Roanoke Rapids building identified

Authorities have identified the skeletal remains that were found last month at an abandoned Roanoke Rapids building.

According to authorities, the remains of Gary Joe Youngblood, 30, of Roanoke Rapids, were found on March 21. Youngblood was reported missing on Aug. 5, 2016 by a family member.

A cause of death was not yet determined, but foul play is not suspected.
