Some state employees had reason to celebrate at the Governor's Mansion Wednesday afternoon. Twenty-three of them are being honored with the Governor's Award for Excellence, the highest honor a state employee can receive for service to North Carolina.

The recipients come from all areas of state government. A Committee for Recognition picked the winning employees from thousands of nominees.
