Father Drowns Trying to Save Son

An Iredell County family is mourning the loss of a father after he tried to rescue his son from a Troutman lake.

Dale Bruce's body was found early Saturday morning in a lake at the Iredell Fish and Game Club near Duke Power State Park. Officers say Bruce and his wife jumped into the lake Friday after noticing their son was having problems swimming.

The 7-year-old boy and his mother made it out of the water alright.
